Extremadura is one of the European regions with the largest areas for birds and that is why it is one the most desired destinations among birdwatchers and nature lovers around the world. Up to 337 bird species have been observed in a full year in Extremadura. This region has a large population of some of the most endangered bird species in Europe, such as the Spanish imperial eagle, the black stork, the black vulture, Bonelli’s eagle, the Egyptian vulture, the lesser kestrel and the great bustard.
